OUR PROJECTS
Shack Group’s projects are where our mission comes to life — transforming waste challenges into opportunities for economic growth, environmental protection, and community empowerment.

We have proudly led and contributed to impactful initiatives such as:
-
Township Waste Management & Job Creation
In partnership with Groen Minthiro under the Presidential Employment Stimulus and Mogalakwena Municipality, we employed 660 candidates in township and urban areas of Mokopane. Together, we collected and properly disposed of over 150 tons of solid waste, trained five wastepreneurs, and helped recover 30 tons of recyclable material.

-
Rural Community Buy-Back Centers
In collaboration with Ivanplats Mine, we established 10 satellite buy-back centers across 11 villages, engaging more than 600 local participants in clean-ups and recycling. This project also included an educational outreach that reached 1,000 schoolchildren, raising awareness about plastic pollution and proper waste disposal.

-
Captain Fanplastic Environmental Education
Partnering with the Captain Fanplastic initiative, Shack Group has brought interactive, story-driven environmental education to schools and communities. Using engaging storytelling, gamified clean-ups, and creative learning activities, we help young people understand the importance of keeping plastic out of nature, nurturing the next generation of environmental stewards.

-
Community Awareness & Education Campaigns
Through ongoing school programs, public workshops, and environmental campaigns, we foster a culture of recycling and environmental responsibility across rural and township communities.

Each project we undertake blends environmental stewardship with economic empowerment, directly contributing to the achievement of SDG 8, SDG 12, SDG 13, and SDG 15. These efforts leave lasting legacies — cleaner communities, stronger local economies, and a more sustainable future for all.
